Worship Ministry

"God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:24)

How Does SCC’s Worship Ministry Contribute to the AIM of the Church?

  • A – Adoration of God’s Son

At first glance, it might seem as though SCC’s worship ministry only contributes to the “vertical” aim of the church; the worship of Christ, but that is not entirely true.  Our goal is to lead and teach people to worship God in spirit and truth; that much is true.  For that reason, our contribution to this area of SCC’s ministry is easy to see. Nevertheless, it should be said that SCC’s worship ministry is not the only ministry that seeks to lead people in worship, nor is it the only ministry concerned with worship.  Worship should be the heartbeat of every ministry at SCC, for all of life is worship.  SCC’s worship ministry should simply be viewed as a ministry that encourages corporate worship, in cooperation with all other ministries, not instead of them.

  • I – Involvement with God’s People

As stated in our governing principles (under “Ministry”) we will take the responsibility to teach, train and encourage the Body of Christ very seriously, meeting people where they are at and seeking to lead them to the Throne of Grace to worship Christ.

  • M – Mission to God’s World

Whereas some ministries gear their worship services to meet the needs of unbelievers, we want to hold to a philosophy much like what Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:14-16.  “You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”  When an unbeliever comes into our worship services, we want him to hear the word of God faithfully proclaimed to lead him to salvation (Romans 1:16; 10:17), so that he will fall on his face and worship God (1 Corinthians 14:25).  Our other expressions of worship should also exalt the glory and grace of Jesus Christ, so that in all things He may have the preeminence (Colossians 1:18).
