Ron Prosise is the Pastor-Teacher of Shepherd's Community Church. He received his Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Ministry, then graduated in the first class from The Master’s Seminary for Doctorate in Expository Preaching. His passion is to equip Christ’s church through teaching and shepherding, and to see God’s word joyfully lived out through lives empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Ron came to faith in Christ at an early age. Not sure of what to do next, he began reading five chapters of the Bible every day. This started a life-long love of God’s word. As a teenager Ron came across the Navigators’ Topical Memory System and began memorizing Scripture in a way that was strategic and practical. In seminary someone gave him the book Our Sufficiency in Christ by John MacArthur, which fortified his convictions concerning the authority and sufficiency of God’s word for life and ministry. Ron has also been influenced by the writings of John Piper and Donald Whitney. You will quickly see Ron’s passion for God’s word whether it’s listening to his teaching or spending time with him one-on-one.
Ron is head over heels in love with his wife Donna, and crazy about his kids Jonathan and Anna. He enjoys roller blading and roller hockey, discovering new ethnic food restaurants, and playing cut-throat games of Scrabble, Chess, and Axis & Allies. God has graciously given him some unusual experiences in life, including jumping out of planes as an Army paratrooper, serving as a Marine Corps chaplain, ministering in Washington D.C. after the 9/11 attack, flying an F-15, preaching in the throne room of Saddam Hussein’s palace in Baghdad during the Iraq war, and serving as the second in command for the entire public education system in Iraq under the Coalition Provisional Authority, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
Kyle Petersen is the Minister of Worship and Administration at Shepherd’s Community Church. Kyle’s ministry is devoted to the worship ministry at SCC as well as various other administrative roles. He is also a deacon. He received his M.A. in Biblical Studies at the Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California in 2010. Kyle’s greatest desire is to see Christ exalted through worship in every area of life, and to see His church become increasingly passionate about worshiping Him in spirit and truth as one body.
Kyle met his wife Heather at Target where they both worked in high school. They were married in June 2007, and are so thankful to the Lord for His faithfulness to them. They have been amazingly blessed with a son named Ethan.
