Our friends that are foster parents were going to take care of the boys for the week and had started the process of changing agencies. Needless to say the agency did not like that they were leaving and has made it so that they are unable to watch the boys while we are on the wilderness trip - we just found this out Friday. So we were in scramble mode for the last couple of days. Finally on Wednesday they found a single mom that could watch the boys. But last night Christian woke up crying, stating that his hip hurt. We took him to the doctor and they said it looks like he has excess water in the joint. This has prompted the doctors to schedule a series of tests and doctor visits. We now have no idea how this is going effect our trip so we really need your prayers. Thank you all.

My friend’s daughter, who is college aged, has a friend named Katie who has struggled with eating disorders for years. She finally spent about half a year in a facility for rehabilitation of people with her condition and bonded with a nurse there. She was a Motherly type and kept in consistent contact with Katie even after Katie had exited the program. So when she stopped hearing from the nurse she tried to contact her only to find that the nurse had committed suicide. Katie and many of the other girls whose lives this nurse had touched came to the nurse’s funeral. When one of their friends who was intending to be there didn’t show up the girls went to her apartment only to find her body. She had hung herself. Please pray for Katie and the other girls as they try to deal with these horrible situations. Please pray that the suicides will stop here and not snowball. Pray for strength and healing and life. Thank you.

I talked with him earlier today and he hasn’t heard anything from any jobs in about 3 weeks, and as a result he is becoming very discouraged. Please keep him in prayer that he will continue to trust in God for provision of a job that will meet his needs. Also pray that God would grant him patience and perseverance as he waits on God’s timing and the job He has for him.

My dad’s brother, my Uncle Doyle, survived lung cancer about 10 years ago with only one lung left, but has experienced a decade of health problems, including congestive heart disease. This fall he got sick with a virus that led to pneumonia, and ultimately led to him being on life support and in a drug induced coma. My cousins made the most difficult decision of removing the life support yesterday, and they are doing that this morning. It is a very sad day for me. We lost my dad to lung cancer 8 years ago. They both were only in their 60’s. Leah is also quite sick with a respiratory virus. I need to make decisions about whether to travel to Oklahoma for the funeral and need God’s direction and wisdom. So I ask you to pray for me for that. Mostly, I need peace. Thankyou!

As many of you know, we are fostering 2 little ones whom we have had for more than 2 years now. We have an upcoming hearing on Feb 8th in which the judge will decide if she will terminate parental rights so we can adopt. They have already ruled that the children will stay with us but if they do not terminate parental rights we could never adopt and would be forced to have some very unhealthy people in their lives. Also if they start a precedent for this in foster care it would negatively affect possibly thousands of children and families and really break down foster adoption. It is a long story but God knows the details. Please pray for His grace and power to overwhelm the situation and move the judge. God holds the hearts of rulers and kings in His hands. Also be praying for the salvation of the children’s mom.

I received this prayer request from Vera, Anatoly Oleynik’s sister-in-law This morning when I talked to Anatoly, he told me that Russian government want to change the law about religious freedom. Right now this "new law" is in the "russian duma" or "congress". It’s not approve yet, they are working on it. But according this "new law", christian will not be permitted preach the gospel on the street, they will be prosecuted, and will have to pay big penalty. The children under 14 years can not go to the church without written permission from the both parents. Anatoly said, this "new law" was accepted by USSA in 1935, when Stalin regime prosecuted the christian. Please pray asking God to continue freedom in Russia, and keep the door open to preach the Gospel there. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who has been praying with us that God would open a door for HIS CREATION to be able to co-labor with Tyndale House Publishers in ministry. Today, Tyndale officially agreed to start publishing our "His Nature" bulletin inserts! Our omnipotent and all-sufficient God deserves all the praise for this seemingly unlikely series of events that has led to our signing a contract with Tyndale. I saw the pulmonary specialist and amyloid doctor Monday. They are both 80% sure I have amyloid in my lungs, but are waiting for the biopsy results for confirmation. My doctor recommends high-dose chemo with stem-cell transplant right away. If my lungs get much worse, I won’t be a candidate for high dose. If they try medium or low-dose chemo and it doesn’t work, there won’t be any options left. If the biopsy is positive, they will do a stem-cell collection for 2-3 weeks the end of Oct. I’d go home for about a month and return. After this, unless things go very badly, I can return home and live by myself. I can’t clean house for 100 days. I know I can hire that stuff done and I can at least keep my (dog) Gypsy-baby! My Dad also found out last week he has skin cancer. Please pray that I can encourage him and not be such a burden to him while he’s dealing with his own issues. Please pray that I will focus on Phil 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

Please also pray that I would remain broken in Christ's humility - that I could solely rely on His wisdom in writing about His precious character in these bulletin inserts. Father's Spirit is gently, but firmly reminding me (once again) to stay focused on Jesus' glory, and remain single-hearted in the ministry He has graciously given me... Please pray that God would work Jeremiah 32:39 in my life every day: "I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear Me for their own good and the good of their children after them." That I will fulfill the calling He has ordained me to do in this new job. That I will be calm and collect as I take a pre-employment test and will think clearly so that I may pass the exam. That I will be honorable, courteous and respectable with my speech and actions filled with the salt of the Lord as I am interviewed by a three person panel. Thank you all of you praying saints. We have had some answered prayer and good news and some very frustrating news in the last few days. Praise God, some things were brought to light which have made the county reconsider sending the children home at this time!! We have been told though that mom may go into residential treatment and the county isn't going to argue for Termination of Parental rights at the next court date due (long-story). They are scheduling a court date as early as the 19th. We are supposed to meet with a Children's Law center in Denver on Monday to discuss their rates etc. The lawyer said that she also will be candid with us about our chances of fighting Denver. Please pray that God would end this at the next court date as the judge can choose to end it, for wisdom in the decision to intervene in court and whether to hire this law firm and for peace. Also the mother's sister is in critical condition in the hospital pray she repents and comes to Christ.

If the case worker has her way they will be sent back to their mother very soon. Please pray for God's protection over the children, that anything that would harm them would be revealed, and that they would not be sent back to an unsafe environment. Also pray for peace and comfort for our family, as you can imagine we are heartbroken and fearful for their well-being. Especially pray for me (Lisa) as I feel that I'm losing my own babies. We have two important prayer requests. The first and foremost being that God would be glorified and show Himself as the defender of the weak in our upcoming Termination (or Parental Rights) hearing on August 31st. We have had Devon and Dawnette for over 19 months, since the day Dawnette came out of the hospital after being born premature. We love them very much and have been through a lot of disappointments with the way this has drug out, the children would be very tramautized and most likely in a bad situation if they went home at this point. If termination goes through we would be able to adopt them. The second request has to do with trying to get closer to this body as we live up near Ft. Collins in Windsor. We put the house on the market a couple of weeks ago and are praying that it sells and God directs us to a new home and to which area would be best for us for service and fellowship.

Dear Church Family, I will be undergoing open heart surgery on Monday, March 9 at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. The surgery will be to remove the "clot" from the right atrium of my heart and to check on one mass and one shadow that have shown up on my right lung (shown on the PET scan). The spots on my lung are more likely areas of inflammation, infection or blood clots rather than cancer (Praise God!). But, quite honestly they don't know what they are...so we have to see :). I'm asking for you to pray for wisdom for everyone involved in this especially the docs. That God would guide their hands. That he would also continue to blanket our family in His peace, the "peace that transcends all understanding". And that he would heal me completely. Thank you for all of prayers and all of the love you have provided us.

Thank you all for your prayers. I wanted to update the previous prayer requests. The plan is to have open heart surgery on March 9th. There is a type of open heart surgery that is a little less invasive (I'm hoping I can have this kind), but I know God is incontrol and I trust His will for me. From now until March 9th, I will undergo many tests to check things out (PET scan, CT scans, blood work). Thank you for walking through this journey with us with prayer, service, and love. We have been so blessed! To God be the Glory!

Dear Church Family I want to thank for you all for your prayers over the past year and a half especially. I have just found out that I am facing another surgery. The cardiologists are uncertain at this time if it is a blood clot in my heart or something else. So it needs to come out. I am also facing a "minor procedure" in the near future as well. I am so blessed to be a part of this body of believers. Thank you for your prayers.

Many have asked for an update on Kelly's status. It is pretty much status quo, and that's the problem. Yesterday she had an echo cardiogram down her throat to get a closer look at the clot in the heart. The cardiologist is going to take the results to a conference of about 30 other cardiologists and heart surgeons on Tuesday to try to come up with a new gameplan. The blood thinner just isn't working quick enough. We should know more Tuesday evening or Wednesday. We're praying there is some alternative to open heart surgery, and we would still appreciate your help with that. Thanks.

Please pray for my coworker Patsy. She just lost her full term baby to a clot in the cord back in November. It was her first, and she's really not doing well. As she is not a believer, she seems lost with no spiritual anchor. She is not close to her family, and feels she only has her husband, Pete's, support. Pray for healing and direction, and salvation for both of them. Pray for a loving, understanding, and compassionate heart for me.

Please pray for my long time friend Garth and his family. His dad Carl has brain cancer with a large inoperable tumor. Carl was doing well, but has recently taken a turn for the worse, and there is only one more chemo to try. Pray for Carl's healing and complete recovery. Also, please pray for Garth as he seems to be questioning "why?". Garth has a loose catholic background, and though he seems to have some kind of faith, I doubt if he's a believer. Pray that Garth will be drawn near to the Lord at this time, and that he would be saved if he is not already. Pray that God would use me to boldly share the gospel and that the power of the gospel would bring Garth to the cross. Thanks.

I wanted to ask for prayer for my father, who is 78 years old, and who was admitted to the hospital in El Paso on Saturday with a blood disorder. It sounds like he has been having severe joint pain, losing weight and getting little sleep for some time. His spirits, however, are higher now that his doctors have a diagnosis and have decided on a course of treatment. They are hopeful that he will only be in the hospital for three or four days. Please pray for his relationship with the Lord to be deepened, and that his spriits will remain high. Pray also, for the treatment to be effective, for healing, and that no surgery will be necessary.

We have been praying for Rick Erickson, who had testing for his heart done this week. It was discovered that Rick had ninety percent artery blockage, and was in surgery this morning, which went well. I will be visiting Rick at St. Joseph's hospital this evening. Praise the Lord for this timely discovery and pray for his full recovery!

I am having surgery next week, Thursday, Jan. 15. I have had problems with ovarian cysts for years and have had a couple of surgeries before for this problem, one surgery damaged an ovary. I have had persistent pain on that ovary for months and the decision has been made to go ahead and remove both ovaries. Please pray for me to have God's peace before and after this procedure and for all of my family to do well through the recovery period. Also, please join me and Praise the Lord for his goodness to us in allowing us to be able to have any children at all!! I have been reminded recently through the pain of what a miracle it is that God gave us 4 children, despite my medical history.

I'd like to start off with an amazing praise. Our amazing heavenly father has brought Dee and I a beautiful baby boy, who is quite healthy and we will be forever grateful!!! =) We made a slight error, however, in assuming it would be easy once we got him home. We are having trouble getting him to eat, and it is taking a large physical and emotional toll on us both. Please pray that God will provide us with the strength and encouragement we need to persevere. We both know that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, but it is still a trying time. Thank you all!

Hello family, We received news that blood clots developed in Kelly Ferdig's heart. She is in the hospital at this time and will be treated and monitored overnight. We do not yet know the extent or number of clots but exhort you to pray for her and her family during this time. She has been a model of godliness and perseverance to us throughout her battle with cancer as we witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit (The Comforter) in her life. Praise be to God for her example! Thank you all for praying.

Tom's dad (in Nebraska) is in the final stages of cirrhosis of the liver. Jan's dad (in Wisconsin) is in the final stages of Alzheimer's. Both men have rejected any talk of Salvation. Please pray that both will have clarity of mind to see their need and reach out to the Savior. Please also pray for the family. This is hard especially for Jan's mom. None of the family is saved. And please pray for us to know what God wants us to do.

Church Family, As many of you know I have been looking for part-time work at home (bookkeeping/accounting) for quite a long time now without any real results. I would greatly appreciate your prayers for Randy and I as we seek God's will in my continued search for work as well as in how we may need to change our finances to better suit our current position. God has continually blessed us and provided for us as I have not been working outside the home. We know that He has also called us to be good stewards of the resources He has provided, so we want to make sure we are doing that to the best of our abilities. I would also appreciate your prayers for God to guide and direct us to what He would have me do. I know that I desperately need God's guidance, direction, and wisdom to be able to find the job that God has planned for me. Above all, we desire to follow God's will and plan for our lives, and need prayer that He will help us to discern and obediently follow whatever He has for us.

Dear Church Family, Thank you all for the prayers that you have lifted up on my behalf. I have been so blessed to be a part of this body of believers. Thank you for allowing God to work through you. I humbly ask you to continue to pray for my health as I have gone through another series of tests and have another one to go next week. God is so good and so faithful. I also write to ask for prayer for my father-in-law, Joe's dad. This week he was diagnosed with rectal cancer. We still do not know many of the details, but ask that you would remember him in your prayers as well. I feel so blessed to be able to write to you and ask these things. Thank you for all you have done and all you continue to do. We praise God in all of these things.

How great is our God and all will see how great how great is our God!" That song comes to mind as I email the good news on Samuel. Deedee just called...the PET scan results were normal, the bone marrow was normal, Samuel is out of bed and walking around and actually going home this evening!!!! The doctors are amazed. Jim and Deedee are overwhelmed, I guess Jim is dancing around the room. (I'm probably going to get in trouble for that : ) As many of you know, the oncology team of doctors were preparing Jim and Deedee for a leukemia or lymphoma diagnosis. So we rejoice with the Martinko family and bless His holy name!! Say to God, "How awe-inspiring are Your works!" Psalm 66:3 With great joy, Hilary

Dear family, Please lift up Samuel Martinko in prayer before our Merciful God as he is in the hospital today undergoing testing for a sudden drop in white blood cell count. He started having severe headaches and a high fever two nights ago and a spinal tap yesterday cleared meningitis as an option. However, the symptoms continued last night and his blood tests today show some anomalies. May He grant Samuel strength and peace as he goes through this difficult time... Please pray. Thank you.
